Small Business Certification Unit
The Small Business Certification Unit processes small business applications submitted to the DEOD for Metro’s small business programs:
- Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE)
- Small Business Enterprise (SBE)
- Minority/Women-Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE)
The Small Business Certification Unit determines the certification eligibility of small businesses based on the S/D/M/WBE program requirements.
The unit receives applications from potential S/D/M/WBE firms, conducts comprehensive certification file reviews of these firms, and performs as needed site visits to validate the eligibility status of applicants. Once certified, an S/D/M/WBE firm is eligible to participate as an S/D/M/WBE on Metro procurements.
Applications should be submitted no later than thirty (30) days before a proposal date, and firms must be certified by bid/proposal due date to participate as an S/D/M/WBE on Metro procurements. To become certified, applicant firms must meet the eligibility criteria as set forth by program requirements.
