Governance Council
Metro Gateway Cities Governance Council usually meets the second Thursday of each month at 2 pm at The Gas Company in the City of Downey, 9240 Firestone Blvd view map (PDF format, 55KB).
The Gateway Cities Governance Council is comprised of four elected officials and five non-elected officials, and reviews and takes action on Gateway Cities Sector staff recommendations for service modifications in the area. The Gateway Cities Council of Governments (COG) appoints governance Council members. The COG’s recommended appointees are approved by Metro’s Board of Directors.
Current Gateway Cities Governance Representatives include:
Elected Representatives Norwalk Councilmember Cheri Kelley (Chair), Whittier Councilmember Owen Newcomer (Vice-Chair), Downey Councilmember Anne Bayer, and Artesia Councilmember Larry Nelson. Non-elected members include Jo Ann Eros Delgado representing the unincorporated LA County area in Whittier, George Bass from the City of Bell, Harley Rubenstein from the City of Long Beach, Cynde Soto from the City of Long Beach, and Wally Shidler from the unincorporated LA County area in Walnut Park.
