Draft General Meeting Minutes

 

Meeting called to order at 6:32pm.  Members in attendance: Roger Christensen (Chairperson), Kymberleigh Richards (Secretary), Bill Latto (Chair Emeritus), Neil Bjornsen, Russ Davies, Eric Miller, Wally Shidler.

 

David Yale, Deputy Executive Officer, Countywide Planning and Development, gave a financial update on the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and answered questions regarding:

·         Timetable for release of LRTP for public comment at the end of the year

·         Need for new bus divisions adjacent to Metro headquarters and LAX to accommodate articulated bus fleet

·         Cost assumptions in modeling Crenshaw Corridor project

·         State budget transfer of gasoline sales tax to the General Fund

·         Assumptions and modeling of fare increases

·         Cost reduction strategies for fuel types in terms of engine costs, maintenance costs, and mileage

 

Public comment received on Mr. Yale’s presentation from:

·         Eugene Salinsky on potential additional revenues (new sales taxes, parking and usage fees, congestion pricing) not taken into account in the LRTP.

·         Ken Ruben on the ranking of projects not under active consideration, such as the downtown Regional Connector

·         Dana Gabbard on the coordination of the MetroLRTP with SCAG’s during the public comment period

 

Minutes of July 25, 2007 General Meeting approved.  (Motion: Shidler, Second: Davies)

 

Public comment received from Dana Gabbard on CAC addressing issues with staff members who have no decision-making authority and from Ken Ruben on possible additional bus service hour cuts in June 2008.

 

Meeting adjourned at 7:45pm.
