Metro Schedules Free Artists Workshops on Public Art Opportunities

• Metro Art workshops inform artists about upcoming transit-related projects and how to apply for public art commissions.

Metro Art will offer three artist workshops in September to inform interested artists about upcoming opportunities in the Metro system including stations along the Mid-City Exposition light right line. Artists may choose to attend any one of the workshops.

The Workshops will be at various locations throughout Los Angeles County. The workshops are free and open to all.

• Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006 at 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

• Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006 at 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The World Stage Performance Gallery, 4344 Degnan Blvd., in Los Angeles. (90008)

• Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006 at 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Since 1989, Metro Art has commissioned over 250 artists for a wide variety of projects – permanent and temporary – that enchance the Metro bus and rail transit system. Artists are selected through a peer review process with community input. All artworks are created specifically for their transit-related sites.
