South Side of First Street Will Be Widened As A Part Of Street Restoration Work For The Metro Gold Line Eastside ExtensionThe south side of First Street between Mission and Gless will be widened beginning this week as part of the street restoration process for the at-grade construction phase of the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension light rail line. The work will last approximately three months. Crews will work Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. If needed, possible night and weekend work will be done. Residents should expect parking restrictions on First Street while pedestrians will experience some rerouting to the north side of First Street. Driveway access to homes and businesses will be maintained, however, access to emergency vehicles will be maintained. The Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension, which will feature eight stations (two underground), will span six miles from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles via the Arts District/Little Tokyo and Boyle Heights to Atlantic/Pomona Boulevards in East Los Angeles.
