Eastbound Lane on First Street Segment in Boyle Heights Will Close to Traffic as Construction of Metro Gold Line Moves Forward

Metro construction crews will close the eastbound lanes on First Street, between Lorena and Fresno streets in Boyle Heights, beginning Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 27 to install a power pole on the south side of First Street, adjacent to the East Portal.

Work has been schedule weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Residents should expect no street parking on the south side of First Street, between Concord and Lorena; eastbound traffic on First Street will detoured at Fresno Street. Lorena Street will remain open for through traffic. Metro flaggers will help to redirect pedestrian traffic in the area. Access to homes, businesses and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

The Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension, which will feature eight stations (two underground), will span six miles from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles via the Arts District/Little Tokyo and Boyle Heights to Atlantic/Pomona Boulevards in East Los Angeles. It is scheduled to open in 2009.
