First Street Segments in Boyle Heights to be Resurfaced as Construction of Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension ContinuesMetro construction crews will be resurfacing First Street on several areas between State and Dacotha in Boyle Heights, beginning Monday, July 23 to Wednesday, July 25. Construction hours will be from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. as the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension continues to move forward. The work will include grinding away the existing surface, followed by resurfacing with asphalt and repainting road markings in the following order; First, between State and Cummings streets; First between Breed and Chicago streets; First between Mathews and Fickett streets; intersection of First and Mott streets and last, First and Dacotha streets. Residents and motorists should be aware that there will be temporary no stopping zones in this areas, and traffic will be reduced to one lane at each direction. Cones, electronic boards and flaggers will help to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic to reduce impact to the community. Access to homes, businesses and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. The Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension, which will feature eight stations (two underground), will span six miles from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles via the Arts District/Little Tokyo and Boyle Heights to Atlantic/Pomona Boulevards in East Los Angeles.
