Metro Builds New Sanitary Sewer Line in Boyle Heights for Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension

Construction of a sanitary sewer system has began on the southeast corner of the intersection at First and Indiana streets in Boyle Heights for the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension construction project and will last approximately three weeks.

This work entails removing an existing manhole and the installation of a new pipe and a new manhole. Works as been scheduled from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Metro flaggers will help redirect traffic and pedestrians during crosswalk closure. Cones and electronic boards will be used to help minimize impacts to the community. Access to homes, businesses and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

The Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension, which will feature eight stations (two underground), will span six miles from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles via the Arts District/Little Tokyo and Boyle Heights to Atlantic/Pomona Boulevards in East Los Angeles. It is scheduled to open in 2009.
