Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension Continues Installing Rail Track Along the Six-Mile Light Rail Train Alignment

For the next two weeks Metro construction workers are restricting left turns at Third Street and Mednik Avenue intersection in East Los Angeles as they continues to install the rail track for the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension. Thru traffic and right turns will be maintained during the length of the construction activity.

Working hours are from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Southbound and northbound traffic will be maintained at all times. Left turns will be restricted for traffic in all directions. There will be three days that eastbound and westbound thru traffic at Third Street and Mednik Avenue intersection will be restricted. Both eastbound and westbound traffic will be detoured at Mednik Avenue. The hours of this closure will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cones and electronic boards are in place to help alleviate traffic problems in the community. Access to homes and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

The Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension, which will feature eight stations (two underground), will span six miles from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles via the Arts District/Little Tokyo and Boyle Heights to Atlantic/Pomona Boulevards in East Los Angeles. It is scheduled to open in 2009.
