Metro Relocates Power Poles, Utility Lines, Pours Concrete in Boyle Heights for the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension
As part of the fast moving construction work for the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension, on Wednesday, Jan. 3, Metro will begin relocating power poles, drainage tie-ins and will pour concrete on the right-of-way on First Street between Evergreen and Lorena streets in Boyle Heights.
The utility work and track slab placement is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Wednesday, Jan. 2, through Friday, Jan. 4. The work will be between Lorena and Indiana streets. From Lorena to Evergreen streets, Metro will relocate power poles beginning Monday, Jan. 7 trough Friday, Jan 11, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Residents and motorists should expect traffic and parking restrictions along First Street. Pedestrians will be rerouted to a safe area outside the construction zone. Access to residents, businesses and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
The Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension, which will feature eight stations (two underground), will span six miles from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles via the Arts District/Little Tokyo and Boyle Heights to Atlantic/Pomona Boulevards in East Los Angeles. It is scheduled to open in 2009.
