FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MTA passes good on Montebello Bus Lines effective Dec. 30

Versión en español
In a move to offer seamless bus transit services in the County of Los Angeles, MTA has entered into an agreement with Montebello Bus Lines to accept MTA transit passes effective December 30.

“What this means is that if a bus patron buys a MTA pass they can use it on all Montebello Bus Lines as well as the MTA Metro system,” said MTA CEO Roger Snoble. “This is the start of our effort towards the development of a countywide transit pass.”

MTA continues to work for the acceptance of a uniform fare medium by all operators in the county that will greatly expand customers’ mobility options and will provide a strong foundation to build upon for implementation of the Universal Fare System currently under development and procurement.

The Universal Fare System will create a seamless system of collecting fares from one transit agency to another throughout the entire county using “Smart Card” technologies used by many other major transit providers in the nation and around the world.

In September, the MTA Board of Directors approved the FY 02 Service Changes Program that included the cancellation of MTA line 262 (Garfield Avenue). Effective Dec. 30, Montebello Bus Lines will take over Line 262, honoring MTA passes.
