Metro South Bay Service Sector to Make Minor Route Changes to Three Lines in San Pedro

The Metro South Bay Service Sector will make minor route modifications to three Metro Bus Lines operating in the San Pedro area effective Sunday, October 24.

The changes will take place in the vicinity of the San Pedro Peninsula Hospital on Metro Bus Lines 205 (Imperial/Wilmington Metro Rail Station/San Pedro), 447 (San Pedro via 7^th Street/Wilmington/Carson/Union Station) and 550 (San Pedro/West Hollywood Express). These three lines will operate one-way service only on 7^th Street, Weymouth Avenue, 13^th Street, and Gaffey Street south of 7^th Street.

These three lines previously operated on Averill Avenue in the San Pedro area, however, effective on Sunday, Oct. 24, they will be taken off Averill Avenue. The changes are the result of meetings with residents in the area of Averill Avenue who sought relief from the noise and vibrations of the buses operating along the avenue. As a result of those meetings, these three lines will no longer serve Averill Avenue.

"This is a perfect example of how the Metro South Bay Service Sector continues to work with the community we serve in providing the best service possible and addressing the community's concerns in terms of Metro Bus operations in the sector," said Metro South Bay Service Sector General Manager Dana Coffey.

A new southbound terminal for Line 205 will be established at 13^th Street and Gaffey Street adjacent to Von's Market. Southbound riders on Line 205 with destinations west of Gaffey Street will be allowed to ride through the bus layover area without paying an additional fare. The terminal for Lines 447 and 550 will remain on 7^th Street near the entrance to San Pedro Peninsula Hospital.

On 7^th Street between Gaffey Street and the San Pedro Peninsula Hospital, Lines 447 and 550 will provide westbound service only and Line 205 will provide eastbound service.

On 13^th Street between Pacific Boulevard and Weymouth Avenue, Line 205 will provide westbound service only. Lines 447 and 550 will provide eastbound service on 13^th Street between Weymouth Avenue and Gaffey Street.

On Weymouth Avenue between 13^th Street and 7^th Street, Line 205 will provide northbound service and Lines 447 and 550 will provide the southbound service. The remainder of Lines 205. 447 and 550 will not change.
