Metro to Update Community on Eastside Transit Corridor Phase 2 Project Study

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will be conducting four public upcoming meetings to update the community on the agency’s Eastside Transit Corridor Study Phase 2. The study, which evaluates ways to improve mobility in the corridor by connecting the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension (under construction) to cities further east of Los Angeles, will be held at the following locations:

Wednesday, April 9, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Uptown Senior Center, 13225 Walnut Street, Whittier, CA

Saturday, April 12, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., South El Monte Senior Center/Dining Room, 1556 Central Avenue, South El Monte, CA

Monday, April 14, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Senior Center at City Park, 115 South Taylor Avenue, Montebello, CA

Thursday, April 17, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., North Park Middle School/Cafeteria, 4450 Durfee Avenue, Pico Rivera, C

The Eastside Transit Corridor Phase 2 study area includes the cities of Montebello, Pico Rivera, Monterey Park, Industry, Downey, Whittier, Commerce, Rosemead, South El Monte, El Monte, South San Gabriel, Santa Fe Springs, Bell, as well as areas of Los Angeles County.

Metro’s presentation will include review of a set of transit alternatives developed based on community feedback and extensive field evaluations of the corridor. The public will be updated on the details of potential alignments, transit modes, configurations as well as the screening criteria used to evaluate all possible alternatives.

Metro held four early public scoping meetings in November 2007 to obtain community input to study and develop potential alternatives as a way to address transportation needs in the region.
