L.A. Metro to Operate Metro Red, Purple, Blue, Green and Gold Line Trains All Night on New Year’s Eve

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will offer 24-hour service on all of its rail lines New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31 to enable everyone in L.A. County to enjoy safe, hassle-free transportation to all their New Year’s holiday festivities.
Metro Red, Purple, Blue, Green and Gold Lines will run every 20 minutes from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. New Year’s Eve.

To facilitate transit to the 2009 Pasadena Tournament of Roses® 120th Rose Parade, Metro will also provide additional train service with greater frequencies on the Downtown L.A. to Pasadena Metro Gold Line.  New Year’s morning January 1, trains will run every 7 to 8 minutes between 5 a.m. and 2 p.m.,  every 10 minutes between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. and again every 7 to 8 minutes between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.

As an added incentive to encourage safe transportation, Metro has announced that all of its bus and rail lines will be free of charge between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
