District A1 - Central Business District

The 2003-04 rate for District A1 is $0.28 per assessable square foot. District A1 covers approximately 1,205 acres and encompasses the downtown area of the City of Los Angeles. This area includes Bunker Hill, the Civic Center portions of Chinatown, Little Tokyo and the Financial District.

  • $123.7 million was generated through bond sales which was applied toward station construction costs.
  • District A1 includes four Metro Red Line stations, which opened in 1993.
  • Boundaries are set at a one-half mile distance from the stations.
  • Approximately 2,676 properties are located within District A1, of which 1,254 properties are assessable.
  • In 2000, the District contained 63,238,725 assessable square feet.
