Metro Blue Line

Metro Blue Line Service Delays

Over the next  several  months, construction crews will be performing track work necessary to connect the existing Metro Blue Line with the Expo Light Rail Transit system that is currently under construction.  Passengers will experience significant travel delays throughout this period and are advised to allow extra time to complete their trips.   At night after 8:00pm, trains will run every 30 minutes instead of every 20 minutes. Friday & Saturday, November 13 & 14: due to maintenance work after 8:20pm, northbound trains will depart 16 minutes later than regular schedule.  Trains will depart Transit Mall at 8:26pm, 8:57pm, 9:17pm, 9:37pm and every 20 minutes until 11:41, then regular schedule.

Friday - Sunday,  November 20, 21 & 22,  due  to ongoing Expo Line construction work, Blue Line trains will not operate north of Washington Station. This is the first of eight (8) planned station closures over the next four months to allow for Exposition Line construction. Additional closures will occur in January, February and March 2010.  Buses will be used to transport passengers between Washington Station and 7th St./Metro Center.  Passengers will experience significant travel delays of up to 40 minutes throughout this period and are advised to allow extra time to complete their trips.

November 20, 21 & 22, trains will not serve the following stations:

• San Pedro
• Grand
• Pico
• 7th St./Metro Center (Blue Line only – Red and Purple Lines will continue to run) 

Buses will transport passengers between Washington Station and 7th St./Metro Center.  Buses will run in accordance with the regular Blue Line schedules. At night, the last Westbound Red Line train and Gold Line trains will be held to make connections. Blue Line service between Washington Station and Long Beach Transit Mall will run similar to regular schedules.

Washington – Long Beach Ave. Northbound Roadway, south of Washington Blvd.
San Pedro – Washington Blvd, east of San Pedro St.
Grand – Olive Ave., north of Washington Blvd.
Pico – Pico Blvd., east of Flower St. 

Southbound to Long Beach

7th St./Metro Center Station – Hope St., north of 7th St. (Hope St. Station exit).
Pico – Hope St, south of Pico Blvd.
Grand – Washington Blvd., east of Hill St.
San Pedro – Washington Blvd, east of San Pedro St.

Metro Red/Purple Line

Friday, November 6: due to track maintenance after 8:00pm, the Purple Line shuttle will be operating, running between Wilshire / Vermont and Wilshire / Western only, every 20 minutes. All riders destined to Purple Line stations should transfer at Wilshire / Vermont on the upper platform.

Saturday, November 7:  due to track maintenance before 6:00am, the Purple Line shuttle will be operating, running between Wilshire / Vermont and Wilshire / Western only, every 20 minutes.  All riders destined to Purple Line stations should transfer at Wilshire / Vermont on the upper platform. 

November 2 – 12, Metro Red Line Elevator Access Alternatives: due to required maintenance, various elevators servicing the Metro Red Line will be out of service November 2 - 12. The station escalators will remain in service.  Passengers requiring elevator access should refer to the following schedule:

Monday, November 2 thru Monday, November 9 - Hollywood/Vine Station, Hollywood/Vine passengers requiring elevator access from the street level should take Metro Bus Lines 180, 181, 217 or 780 to Hollywood/Highland Station to complete their trip. Red Line passengers requiring elevator access traveling to Hollywood/Vine Station should travel to Hollywood/Highland Station, disembark and take Metro Bus Lines 180,181, 217 or 780 to Hollywood/Vine Station to complete their trip.

Thursday, November 5 - Wilshire/Normandie Station, Wilshire/Normandie passengers requiring elevator access to the platform level should take Metro Bus Lines 20 or 720 to Wilshire/Western Station to complete their trip. Purple Line passengers requiring elevator access traveling to Wilshire/Normandie Station should travel to Wilshire/Western Station, disembark and take Metro Bus Lines 20 or 720 to Wilshire/Normandie Station to complete their trip.

Friday, November 6 - Hollywood/Western Station, Hollywood/Western passengers requiring elevator access to the platform level should take Metro Bus Lines 180, 181, 217 or 780 to Hollywood/Highland Station to complete their trip. Red Line passengers requiring elevator access traveling to Hollywood/Vine Station should travel to Hollywood/Highland Station, disembark and take Metro Bus Lines 180,181, 217 or 780 to Hollywood/Western Station to complete their trip. 

Monday, November 9 - Vermont/Beverly Station, Vermont/Beverly passengers requiring elevator access to the platform level should take Metro Bus Lines 204 or 754 to Vermont/Santa Monica Station to complete their trip. Red Line passengers requiring elevator access traveling to Vermont/Beverly Station should travel to Vermont/Santa Monica Station, disembark and take Metro Bus Lines 204 or 754 to Vermont/Beverly Station to complete their trip.

Tuesday, November 10 - Hollywood/Highland Station, Hollywood/Highland passengers requiring elevator access to the mezzanine level should take Metro Bus Lines 180, 181, 217 or 780 to Hollywood/Vine Station to complete their trip. Red Line passengers requiring elevator access traveling to Hollywood/Highland Station should travel to Hollywood/Vine Station, disembark and take Metro Bus Lines 180,181, 217 or 780 to Hollywood/Highland Station to complete their trip.

Thursday, November 12 - Hollywood/Highland Station, Hollywood/Highland passengers requiring elevator access to the platform level should take Metro Bus Lines 180, 181, 217 or 780 to Hollywood/Vine Station to complete their trip.  Red Line passengers requiring elevator access traveling to Hollywood/Highland Station should travel to Hollywood/Vine Station, disembark and take Metro Bus Lines 180,181, 217 or 780 to Hollywood/Highland Station to complete their trip. Metro Green Line

Sunday, November 8, due to maintenance after 9pm, westbound trains may be delayed 1 minute from Imperial/Wilmington.

Tuesday, November 10, due to maintenance after 9pm, westbound trains may be delayed 1 minute from Imperial/Wilmington.  Eastbound trains may be delayed 2 minutes from Long Beach Station. 

Wednesday & Thursday, November 11 & 12, due to maintenance after 9pm, westbound trains may be delayed 2 minutes from Imperial/Wilmington.  Eastbound trains may be delayed 1 minutes from Vermont Station.  Metro apologizes for any inconvenience.

37th Street Station Northbound Temporary Stop Relocation

Effective August 11 and until further notice, northbound Metro Express lines serving 37th Street Station will be rerouted due to Expo Light Rail construction at Adams Blvd & Flower St.  The detour is expected to be in effect for at least several months. Southbound buses are unaffected and will continue to serve 37th Street Station southbound platform.

The detour route below will be in effect until further notice. 

Lines 444, 445, 446, 447, 460:    Northbound buses will detour via 39th Street HOV off ramp to Figueroa St.  Buses will make a northbound stop on Figueroa St at 37th St – Exposition Blvd, far side at existing stop serving Lines 81, 102, 200, 442.

Closure of El Monte Busway

Effective August 17, 2009, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the El Monte Busway as part of a pavement restoration project on the San Bernardino Freeway (I-10). The El Monte Busway will be closed for approximately the next 3 months everyday from 10:00pm at night through 5:00am the following morning. The Busway will be closed between Alameda St. in Downtown LA and the 710 freeway.

Express buses will not serve the stops at the Cal State Los Angeles and County + USC Hospital Busway Stations in both directions and the Busway entrance at Alameda St. in the eastbound direction. The last eastbound stops in Downtown LA will be on Alameda St. at the Union Station Entrance, and on Cesar Chavez Ave. at Alameda and Vignes Sts. During these times, access to Cal State Los Angeles and County + USC Hospital Busway Stations is provided by Line 70 from El Monte Station or Lines 70/71 from Downtown Los Angeles.
